GALLERY INFRASTRUCTURE
The Gallery is a 2600-sq ft octagonal room with one glass wall that provides visibility from the hall when closed and which can be opened for receptions. The glass doors in the Connector Hall also open, providing outside access for large structures and allowing for open-air receptions and dinners. .
The ceiling of the Gallery is somewhat dome shaped, with both indirect and spot lighting hanging from a unistrut structure approximately 13 feet from the floor. The center of the dome ceiling is approximately19 feet high. (See Floorplan for explicit measurements). The unistrut will hold up to 8 loads of 500 lbs each (at least 5 feet apart) or 16 loads of 250 lbs each (at least 2-1/2' apart
The room has a terrazzo floor, with power and networking every10 feet. The walls are lined with fabric-covered sound panels. Because of its material base and shape, it is a very "live" room, not suitable for musical performances.
There are 32 tracklight units on dimmers. There is also indirect fluorescent lighting at two levels of brightness, and natural lighting through the glass wall.
For exhibits, the floor will hold approximately 9-10 average size and 4-5 larger works comfortably. The walls offer about 100 linear feet of hanging space, accommodating about 20 average-sized works comfortably. There are 64 8-foot rods with adjustable clip hooks for wall hanging and 10 pedestals for use in displaying smaller objects
The Gallery can be locked, with an alarm security system.
The glass wall of the Gallery, and the glass doors in the Connector Hall may be opened only by Duderstadt Center staff and must be arranged in advance.
