About GROCS

GROCS is a program of the Digital Media Commons, at the University of Michigan. Each year, the program funds interdisciplinary, student-driven projects to explore new technologies in academic activities. Since 2005, the program has funded 26 projects, providing cash grants to 100 students.

The annual call for proposals is issued in September, with final proposals due roughly November 1. A diverse team of reviewers selects 4 - 6 projects that meet the following criteria:

A vision for enhancing academic activity
Collaboration as a means to improve the quality of academic activity
Digital media as a tool for the above
Interdisciplinary perspectives among the team members

Selected projects receive a $2500 cash grant per student and additional services and support from the Digital Media Commons.
