The three "standard" Windows Training Rooms each house 22 workstations. Two of the training rooms can be opened up to provide one room with 44 computers. In each room, the machine at the instructor's desk can be projected or a laptop connection allows instructors to connect a laptop to the projector and the network. Video from a combination DVD/VHS deck can also be projected. Audio from the computer or from the video deck is played through speakers mounted on either side of the projection screens, and a wireless lavalier microphone is available for the instructor.
The workstations in these training rooms are Dell Optiplex GX620 with 3.2GHz Pentium D dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, 8x DVD+/-RW drive, Radeon X600 graphics card, and an 18" LCD monitor. These computers match those found in the Duderstadt Center's open computing site.
SOFTWARE
The software loadset for these training rooms is maintained by CAEN. Software is stored both on local hard disks and on file servers. Due to time constraints and the potential risk posed by adding new software to the existing load set, we are not able to accept special software installation requests. Rare exceptions for adding new software or a different version of existing software may be made. Some frequently-used software such as MS Word, MS Excel, and courseware are stored locally; other programs are available from the file server which is mounted as drive S:.
