Call for Student Submissions: XR at Michigan 2022 Summit (Deadline: April 18th at 12 noon)

A student works on an extended reality (XR) interactive reproduction of the Set used for the movie "Citizen Kane"

The XR @ Michigan 2022 Summit is looking for students who are interested in sharing their work with extended reality (AR/VR/MR). On Day 2 (April 20) of the Summit, students will have the opportunity to share their work with faculty, staff, and industry professionals at the Student Showcase. Deadline for submissions: April 18th at 12 noon.

The XR @ Michigan 2022 Summit is FREE (RSVP here) and a great opportunity to get exposure to your work, connect with other students involved in XR, network with XR professionals from companies including Microsoft and HP, and more!

Any students that are interested in showcasing their work must submit an application for inclusion in the XR Summit. The application must be submitted to this form by April 18th at 12 p.m. for inclusion in the Hopin Showcase (virtual platform). You can either create a 1-5 minute YouTube or Vimeo video or a one-page Google / PowerPoint slide. Applications can be submitted for individual projects or group projects, and should be focused on XR work that was created while you have been a student at the University of Michigan. The projects can be work that was created before and doesn’t have to be created just for this XR Summit. The application items are listed below, required elements denoted with an asterisk *.

  1. *Project Title
  2. *Project Description (40 characters or less)
  3. *Short bio about you or the group
  4. Social Links (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

Students have the option to share their work in-person at the Union on April 20th with Summit attendees during 2 time slots: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. If you would like to share your presentation in-person, please bring your laptop so that it can be connected to a monitor for project sharing. The format is a poster session/exhibition booth style, rather than a formal presentation to a large group. All projects will be shared during the virtual Showcase on Hopin without live presentations.

The top 3 submissions will each be awarded a Meta Quest 2. Prizes will be awarded based on evaluations by the XR Faculty Innovators in Residence Michael Nebeling, Michelle Aebersold, and Jonathan Rule.
