Songs for Democracy – accepting entries through December 1st!

November 17 Update: Entry Deadline has been extended to December 1!

Songs for Democracy seeks entries of songs with (optional) accompanying cover art that will move our democracy forward. All genres accepted. Collaborations between writers, composers, performers, and visual artists encouraged. Grand prize is $3000.00.

Join us at the Duderstadt Center from 12:00 – 7:00 pm on October 9 for the Songs for Democracy Songwriting Hackathon, a special event featuring guest artist Mike Ellison. Students will have the opportunity to work on their entries for the Songs for Democracy collaborative competition, with the chance of winning a $3,000 grand prize. Ellison, and other experts will be available throughout the event to provide guidance for students as they craft their entries. Lunch and free swag will be provided!

All activities will be in the the Duderstadt Center.

Schedule:

12:00 – registration and lunch

1:00 – opening meeting with expectations for day

1:30 – 5:00 – Hackathon activities, Audio Studio tour and more with Mike Ellison and D-Love.
