Seth St. Pierre, feature character designer at DreamWorks and proud STAMPS alum, will showcase his award-winning short film Wednesdays with Gramps at the Detroit Black Film Festival later this month. Seth spent countless hours in the Duderstadt Center (DC) honing his skills in 3D character modeling and animation, making this a full-circle moment for the DC community.

Seth was the only character designer on the film and designed all of the characters — including creating modular designs for the background characters to be as cost effective as possible.

The film has already earned three awards—two at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and one at SIGGRAPH—and tells a moving story of connection, communication, and shared humanity, all without a single spoken word.

Plot: When a teenage boy visits his grandfather in what seems like an ordinary assisted living facility, he discovers they have much more in common than he ever imagined.
