U-M SMTD Alumni Concert Tour in Detroit

Seven proud alumni of the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance—now performing together as Racing Mount Pleasant—are bringing their multi-city concert tour home to Detroit this January. The band has been gaining momentum following the release of their newest album, Racing Mount Pleasant, which debuted this August under the R&R label. Their sound blends energy, nostalgia, and Michigan roots, making this hometown stop a special moment for both the band and their fans.

Before the tour kicked off, the band reunited at the Duderstadt Center last December to film two music videos in the Video Studio, later mixed and polished in the Audio Studio. These videos capture the band’s dynamic performance style and offer a close look at their creative process.

The members of Racing Mount Pleasant first met as teenagers in Michigan, performing under the name Kingfisher and releasing their early album Grip Your Fist, I’m Heaven Bound. Today, they return with a refined sound, a new album, and an opportunity to reconnect with audiences back home.
