Step into a virtual world where plants, movement, and disability culture come together. Planting Disabled Futures invites visitors to explore healing plants through VR and participate in an afternoon of performance, movement, and community.
The project is supported by a UMS Course Development Grant, an Embed Climate Change in Courses Grant, the Duderstadt Center/Emerging Technologies Group, and a Just Tech Fellowship.
Drop in from 1–3 p.m. to explore the VR experience with access doula Stephanie Heit and lead designer Danny Vincenz. Then, from 3:30–5 p.m., join an opening ritual with Taja Will followed by Petra Kuppers’ participatory Data Center Wetlands community jam—where you’re welcome to sit, move, dance, or lie down as you wish.
Come explore, play, and experience Planting Disabled Futures at the Video Studio.
Masks are welcome, distancing options are available, and the event includes wheelchair access, access doulas, microphones, and visual-forward and audio-forward VR experiences.
