New technology is already in action at the Visualization Studio! Funded in part by a generous gift from College of Engineering alumni Yuqing Melanie Wu and Qiang Lin (Learn more about Wu and Lin’s story behind their recent gift), six new high-powered VR workstations have been added to Room 1405—expanding the studio to 37 VR-capable workstations.
Equipped with Huion drawing tablets and Meta Quest 3 headsets, the new stations were assembled in just one day and welcomed 60 students the very next day. Students from class ENG 100 were among the first to put them to use, exploring virtual recreations of nuclear sites that are otherwise inaccessible to the public.
From small project teams and workshops to large classes, the new setup creates more opportunities for students to learn through immersive technology.
