The Digital Media Commons (DMC), in the James and Anne Duderstadt Center (DC) at the University of Michigan (U-M), is looking for a qualified Student Program Manager to lead an initiative that centers student employees in the service design for our unique labs and studios. If you are passionate about empowering learners to grow into problem-solvers who help other learners succeed, this is the place for you.

Reporting to the associate director for Ground Connections (GC), the student program manager will collaborate with managers of the DMC Design Lab 1, Fabrication Studio, Groundworks media lab, and the Duderstadt Center Gallery to hire, train, schedule, compensate and guide a diverse pool of student employees who are important participants in all of our customer support and placemaking activities. This position will involve working onsite (in person) 40 hours per week. Our work environment demands a high degree of collaboration and a commitment to improving equity and inclusion in our field.


Groundworks” is a popular starting point for users seeking help with any DC technology. Student Consultants offer “first responder” support for questions about applications for animation, photography, videography, fabrication, and 3D modeling. And they provide key resource for technical and best-practice information to support students, faculty, and staff in the use of advanced media production equipment in the “Multimedia Rooms“.
