Description: A presentation of music composition and performance exploring the complex, dynamic and quasi-repeatable nature of human response to environmental stimuli, aided by analog and digital electronics, computer software, sensors, and actuators. The presentation comprises three parts. Part one introduces the compositional design approach, performance mechanics, and philosophical/ aesthetic origins. Part two undertakes a real-time recital using the aforementioned performance materials and aesthetic structures, lasting between 20-30 minutes. Part three, an interactive Q&A/ discussion will follow thereafter.

Presenter Bio:

Erik Gottesman is an artist-in-progress. He is also VP Technology at digital transformation consultancy Publicis Sapient, where he leads the Methods & Tools practice and is tasked with the discovery and adoption of innovative ways of working. Gottesman is an alumnus of the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance (BFA ’00) and College of Engineering (BSE ’00). A native of Michigan, he currently resides outside Washington D.C. with his wife Ayesha, their daughter Tara, and a large, naughty feline.
