The North Campus Deans’ MLK Spirit Awards are given to faculty, staff, students, postdocs, and student organizations in North Campus schools and colleges at the University of Michigan who exemplify the leadership and vision of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through their commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, including within the context of the pandemic and our reignited sense of urgency to address root causes of social injustice.

Nominations for the 2025 North Campus Deans’ MLK Spirit Awards are now being accepted.

Looking for other ways to participate with the MLK Spirit Awards?

The 2025 North Campus Deans’ Martin Luther King Spirit Awards committee is excited to announce new opportunities to engage with the MLK Spirit Awards.

We are launching two initiatives:

  • Performance Application:  This application allows individuals to apply to participate in the ceremony as a performer for the 2025 ceremony.
  • Poster Contest: We invite you to submit designs for a new artwork/poster to be used for the MLK Spirit Awards in 2025 -2026.

Applications are open to all North Campus students, regardless of college or unit affiliation. We are thrilled to celebrate the artistic talent of our North Campus community through these special, paid opportunities.

Students interested in applying for either initiative, the performance opportunity or poster contest, should review the relevant application and submit the requested materials by the December 16, 2024 deadline.

For questions about the performance application or poster submission, please contact nc-mlk-award-comm@umich.edu.
