Duderstadt Center Gallery
December 12-18, 2025
A Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning Collective Student Research Expo. “Material Engagement” brings together five projects exploring the intersection of digital fabrication, computational design, and cultural meaning. From transforming discarded oyster shells into architectural elements through machine knitting, to creating acoustic installations that help Deaf individuals perceive sound spatially, these works challenge conventional approaches to materials, technology, and social practice. The exhibition features interactive pavilions, heritage-inspired light props, and critical examinations of everyday activities like line drying—revealing how design can bridge sustainability, accessibility, and cultural expression.
With support from ArtsEngine and the Arts Initiative.
Opening Reception: December 12, from 3-4:00 pm.
