March 25-27, 1pm
Michigan Theater Grand Foyer
Featuring as one of the immersive VR screening experiences at Ann Arbor Film Festival, this crip installation and community performance, developed by Disability Culture Activist Petra Kuppers and DC staff Daniel Vincenz, invites the audience into a world of healing plants cultivated by disabled peoples’ embodied ways of knowing.
Participants are encouraged to try on a headset, hold a plush critter, and engage with a multisensory experience that blends live performance and virtual reality. Through this work, audiences are invited to explore environmental connection, creaturely liveliness, crip joy, and experiences of pain in new and powerful ways.
You can also watch the interview with Petra Kuppers to learn more about how virtual reality can help bridge understanding between disabled and nondisabled communities.
This event is free and open to the public, with no reservation required. Visit the AAFF Webpage for more information.
