Directed by visiting professor Joseph Sywenkyj and DC faculty member Sara Eskandari, this room-scale virtual reality documentary recreates the experience of being at home in Kyiv during a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack.

Using gaming technology and spatial audio, the work allows participants to move freely through the scene in six degrees of freedom, creating a deeply immersive experience.

Presented in a new screening format as part of this year’s Ann Arbor Film Festival, Is The War Close? offers a powerful way to experience documentary storytelling through VR.

This event is free and open to the public, with no reservation required. Visit the AAFF Webpage for more information.
