Personal Studio Gets an Upgrade

Groundworks staff in the upgraded personal studio

We are so excited to launch the second phase of our Personal Studio. This “one person” video studio contains a teleprompter, lights, cameras and microphones all set up ready for you to take advantage of for whatever creative endeavor you are looking to create. It’s terrific for recording instructional content for online learning, video podcasts, monologues (for auditions), or anything you think may be appropriate.

Over the summer we have added a 4th camera, mounted to the ceiling for any sort of content where you may need a top down camera view. We replaced the wireless microphones with Shure MV7+ podcasting mics, and a shotgun mic mounted to the lighting grid on a pan and tilt head so you can position it throughout the room. We’ve also added a camera control unit so you can move all 4 cameras with a simple joystick. Last but certainly not least, we’ve added an Elgato Streamdeck to the space. This “button box” has most of the functionality of the Wirecast video capture system included to the buttons of this device. You can change camera angles, add titles and activate camera tracking from this easy to understand box.

Any active member of the university (students, faculty, and staff) can use the Personal Studio. It is available 24/7 after completing the CANVAS course “Personal Studio – Virtual Orientation.” You can ask questions about the studio by emailing [email protected].
