Converging Technologies Consultant
Digital Media Commons

and Adjunct faculty at the UM Stamps School of Art & Design

I am the Duderstadt Center’s Renaissance Man.

I have been a media, theater, performance and event professional for more than 45 years, and have been working in higher education for more than 25.  In these many lives I have learned a great deal about many things, so sitting down to discuss your “crazy idea” with me is like meeting with 5 or 6 people at once.  My fluency in both the technical and artistic sides of media-rich projects enables my colleagues to extend their reach and delight their audiences, in or out of the classroom.  My facility with technology and my ability to scaffold any project enables me to get the tools and tech out of the way of the user experience – which is why I’m the DC’s “Converging Technology” Consultant.  I am the Tech Whisperer.

I am freely available to all members of the UM community – students & faculty – in or out of the Duderstadt Center.  I have traveled extensively nationally and internationally, assisting various faculty with their research projects.

I have won Emmy and Telly awards for my work in media, and was recognized by UM with the 2018 Research Staff Technical Recognition Award for my work in supporting faculty research in the Humanities, which continues to this day.  An exemplar project would be my ongoing work with historian Dr. Derek Peterson (2017 MacArthur Fellow) to digitize the film, video, and audio archives of the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation covering the presidential years of Idi Amin.

And I still retain my curiosity about what’s around the next corner.  Let’s talk.
