Who can borrow equipment from NCTC?
Generally, equipment loan is available to CoE & LSA faculty, students, and staff. In addition, some equipment is also available to the campus-wide university community. However, some equipment is restricted to specific department or group use, and/or may require the user to complete orientation prior to loan. Equipment resources are designated into four levels of access (Level I, Level 2, Level 3, or Level 4), as specified in each item’s description. All Level 1 classified items will be available to anyone. See here for more information on level classifications.

How long can equipment be checked out from NCTC?
The duration of the loan depends on the Equipment Level of the item. Each item is denoted as Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, or Level 4. Many items have a loan duration of 72 hours (3 days), as specified in the item’s description.

Why would I borrow equipment from NCTC?
Equipment can be checked out to support your research, coursework, class project, or other personal/group technology needs. With ore than 90 items available (from cameras and laptops, to XR devices, audio recording kits, and more) the NCTC offers product consultation as well as a convenient location to pick up/drop off your reserved equipment.

Where can I view a list of items available for loan?
The equipment catalog is currently being updated. To view the list of NCTC equipment available now at the Groundworks checkout desk see the list here: NCTC Equipment Checkout

As more equipment from the LSA-based Equipment Loan Catalog is integrated into the NCTC, both catalogs will be updated to reflect new offerings.
