Everything we perceive can be said to contain the past, present and future. In our perception and thought we move from one to the other. Many of these paintings reflect on that. Layers of color and form present themselves the longer we look: surface painting and shapes carved into the base mirroring our observations and subconscious thoughts to us, while creating objects of beauty.
The larger pictures were done earlier in Alex’s career, and are presented to further open his work to the viewer. They are oil paintings done in many transparent layers.
